Today was the day we departed London for the bulk of our trip through continental Europe. We checked out of our London hotel without breakfast and took the bus to St. Pancreas, where we arrived with plenty of time and no queues. We first took Eurostar to Brussels, where we spent 3 nights during our bike trip – Brussels is one of Dan’s favorite cities, and he planned a 1.5 hour layover to hit our favorite spots in central Brussels: Grand Place, a bike store, an anime book store, and Mannekin Pis.
We got a quick lunch in Brussels before heading back to the station to retrieve our luggage from a locker and board our 3 hour train to Luxembourg – our longest train of the entire trip. When we arrived in Luxembourg City, it was raining and drizzled most of our night there. Our hotel room, at Hotel Bristol, was comically small – Noah’s top bunk above the full bed was cool, but the room could barely fit the bed!
We took the street tram to downtown Luxembourg, strolled in the drizzle (Tammy and Noah with umbrellas we brought, Dan using his rain jacket), had Italian dinner at a restaurant near the center, then headed back to our tiny room and went to bed early. Despite the rain and small room, and our nearly 5 hours on trains, the day was nice and relaxing for us with no real hiccups.
